Pastor Adam Kohlstrom
Senior Pastor of Chestnut Street Baptist Church in Camden, Maine.
Born and raised in Westborough, MA, Adam is a New England native (who yet managed to avoid developing a Massachusetts accent).
Growing up in a Christian family, Adam became serious about his faith in Jesus Christ while in High School. His Youth Pastor identified in him gifts and abilities in teaching, speaking, and leading worship - which he then gave Adam opportunity to develop and use. It was during these years that Adam sensed a calling to go into full time ministry. It was also at this time that Adam met a beautiful and intriguing young woman named Leah, who many years later would honor him by becoming his wife.
Adam studied at Eastern College (now Eastern University) in St. Davids, PA, majoring in Youth Ministries and minoring in Bible and Psychology. Adam had the privilege of studying under youth ministry veterans Duffy Robbins and Jim Moye. During those years, Adam worked with the Youth Ministry at a church in Broomall, PA alongside his professor Jim Moye.
Upon graduating from Eastern College, Adam spent a summer in Ukraine with Youth Ministry International. For three months he trained Ukranian nationals to do youth ministry.
Returning from Ukraine, Adam began at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, married Leah - his longtime sweetheart, and started working as part-time Youth Director at Chapel of the Cross in Southborough, MA.
Gradually increasing in hours, by the time he graduated from Gordon-Conwell Adam was the full-time Youth Director at Chapel.
Hearing of the opportunity, Adam came to Chestnut Street Baptist Church in July 2003 as the Pastor of Family and Youth.
With the retirement of the previous pastor, in June of 2008, Adam was installed as Senior Pastor of Chestnut Street Baptist Church.
Adam and Leah have three children: Samuel, Joshua, and Abigail and reside in Camden.
